A total of 71 new varieties/hybrids were developed and released during the last 17 years (2004-05 to 2020-21) of various crops. Out of 71 varieties/ hybrids, 6 varieties were released/ got recognition at the national level, i.e., released for other states only; 17 varieties were released for Gujarat and other states of the country; and the remaining 48 varieties were released for Gujarat state only. The crops covered include oilseeds, pulses, cereals, cash crops, fruit, and vegetables to reflect the attempts to meet the diverse needs of the farmers. The University is at the forefront in research on groundnut, pearl millet, sesame, cotton, chickpea, wheat, and vegetables. Besides the development of new varieties, the University also played a major role in introducing many new crops into the State, through systematic testing for the performance of these crops. The indents from the State and National levels are being received every year as per the demands for various varieties/hybrids. A strong extension program of the University has ably supported the popularization of these crops. The breeder seed production program is taken as per the need.
